What We Do
Short-Term Missions
Options for short-term missions with LAM are unique. We offer more than a simple "tourist mission." You'll be involved in real, front-lines ministry, working alongside Latin leadership, living with a local family, studying the language and culture, sharing your faith, serving as part of a team and ministering with a local church.
Short-term missions can provide a meaningful way of evaluating God's direction for your future service, as well as providing a vehicle for significant personal investment into the Lord's work. We currently offer 4 program options for short term service:
Spearhead: For almost 40 years, LAM's well-known Spearhead program has offered opportunities to partner with local churches in front-lines ministry while receiving training and mentoring from experienced leaders. Spearhead offers a dynamic program in Mexico City. For more information on this two-month summer program, please see the Spearhead website
Ignite: Interested in Spearhead, but short on time? Check out our nine day trip to Mexico City in July. Join the Spearhead team as they minister to people of all ages, from all walks of life. Ignite is a program that allows you to partner with local churches and Christian ministries, while learning about the culture, food and language in Mexico. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget. Spearhead YearOut: Our Spearhead YearOut program is a one-year introduction to missions in Latin America. The program emphasizes incarnational ministry which is achieved through living among the people, learning the language, culture and history, and serving in a local church or ministry. Whether you're considering long-term missionary service or just want to give a year of your life to full-time ministry, Spearhead YearOut is a great place to get started in missions.
Tailored YearOut: Opportunities are also available for recent graduates or professionals that already have experience in cross-cultural missions and speak some Spanish or Portuguese, but have not gone through Spearhead. We evaluate a person’s skills, background, and desires, then explore options for appropriate ministry with current missionaries and partner ministries in the field. Initial terms for YearOut opportunities can last anywhere from six months to one year. Opportunities can be in any country where LAM missionaries currently serve.
