Disaster Relief
Entire communities are affected when floods or other natural disasters strike. Frequently, local government resources are unprepared to meet the urgent needs of so many people.
Man made disasters also occur. In Colombia, for example, violence from insurgent groups has driven over two million people from their homes. Many of these displaced families have no place to go and end up in refugee camps.
During periods of turmoil produced by disaster, people need help quickly. Whatever the service might be, concrete expressions of concern that meet real needs speak volumes about God's compassion to those receiving them. Disasters often create wonderful opportunities to share Jesus with hurting people.
Latin America Mission is committed to working with and through local church leadership to respond to disasters. If you have experience in Relief work (or interest in learning more), we would love to help you find the right ministry fit— connecting your gifts and calling with the needs of the Latin Church.
